My Love for Dogs

Growing up, I loved dogs but wasn’t allowed to own one, as my parents were cat people. If you love pets, then you understand there are only two people in the world; cat people and dog lovers, and they rarely see eye to eye.

My love for dogs led to me studying Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine. When I moved out (I could barely wait), the first thing I did was get a dog; her name was Milo. Currently, I have two dogs- a German Shepherd-Tuskie and a Golden Retriever- Bella.

What I love most about dogs is their intuition. They somehow seem to know when I have had a rough day, and they come to sit beside me and assure me everything will be okay. Besides being an excellent source of company, I love dogs because they help me feel safe. I no longer feel paranoid about being home alone since I know my dogs are here to protect me.

They are also a lifesaver when I have guests in the house. As an introvert, I struggle with starting conversations, but my dogs are great icebreakers as they make it easy to strike up conversations. Dogs also keep my children on their feet and make great playmates. I could go on and on about my reasons for loving dogs.

Why I Launched Dogisty.com

When you get a dog, you are making a lifetime commitment to your four-legged furry friend, who will entirely depend on you for their health and wellbeing. Dogs may make us feel safe and be great companions, but they are an additional responsibility that I believe every dog lover is happy to meet.

My blog offers health advice to ensure you give your dogs the right amount of food that meets their nutritional needs. The advice on my blog is personalized for different breeds to ensure you meet your dog’s specific needs. You will also get valuable training tips to ensure your dog is tamed and doesn’t cost you extra in lawsuits filed by neighbors, friends, or other visitors on your property. I also review dog gear to recommend products I am confident will help your dog. Why buy something you are unsure when I can buy, test and review it for you?

Knowledge is power, and when it comes to dogs, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. You need to understand your dog’s breed, how to train, and how to feed, and you get all this from my blog. You will become more knowledgeable and confident in providing your fur friend a safe, relaxed and enjoyable home.

How Will This Blog Benefit You as a Dog Lover?

Early this year, before I got Bella, I had Tom, a chihuahua who I referred to as my little baby. Tom was a great addition to the family, although he sometimes gets aggressive towards strangers (don’t they all?)

Unfortunately, we moved houses, and one rainy night, shortly after moving in, he managed to escape somehow. During his escape, he tried to cross a busy road and got hit by a car. His death was something I felt so deeply, and the huge loss got me thinking about how many people lose their dogs from factors they can control.

Maybe if I had a better fence in place or if he had a dog collar with a tracker, which I could use to monitor his whereabouts, so many maybes crossed my mind. I then began thinking about how many people lose their dogs from poor nutrition, lack of know-how to care for them, etc.

I wouldn’t want anyone to experience a preventable loss of their dog, so I started this blog to offer valuable tips, advice, and dog product recommendations to other dog lovers. With my love for dogs and my education, I believe there is much I can offer to help. Hopefully, they get to keep their dogs happy, healthy, and alive from my effort.
